The British Property Federation gives its two-pence worth on the manifestos. On Labour, it says it's "astonishing" that the only recognition of the contribution of the rental sector to affordable housing is to hit landlords with more regulation. On the Tories, the BPF thinks the proposal to allow third parties to appeal against planning decisions "could cripple the system". The public will welcome Tory commitments to make GPs stay open longer, Richard Horton, editor of medical journal HREF="http://www.thelancet.com/" ID="9999" STYLE="LINK_Inline">the Lancet says. But he thinks Labour "has been able to present itself as a party that still has life, energy, and ideas" on health too. Most interestingly perhaps - they suggest doing nothing. Labour's offer of "a period of organisational stabilityÂ… will be welcomed by most health service staff", he thinks.
