Sandbags have been handed out to residents and barriers have been put in place on roads around the town centre.
Stonehaven was seriously affected by flooding when the Carron burst its banks three years ago.

Fourteen flood warnings are in force and the A92 has been shut in both directions between Dundee and Arbroath near Monifieth.

The A937 Laurencekirk to Montrose road at Marykirk was closed due to flooding. Fife Fire and Rescue Service said the people trapped on Friday in Dura Den, including one elderly woman, were safe.
They will monitor the high water levels before deciding whether or not they need to be rescued.
