Drivers are being warned to take extra care, with torrential downpours forecast on Thursday and Friday. Extremely heavy rain is set to sweep in over parts of Scotland overnight with warnings of possible flooding and disruption to travel on Friday morning.

The rain will affect most of the country on Thursday. Drivers are urged to take extra care and flood alerts have been issued.
It is likely to be heaviest across Dumfries & Galloway, Argyll & Bute, Stirling, Perthshire and the southern Highlands, with the potential for localised flooding and travel disruption. A Yellow alert is also in place for Friday for Orkney, east Highlands, and parts of Central, Tayside and Fife.

Flood alerts are in place across the country but there are no specific flood warnings.
