A motorway in West Yorkshire has been closed after a crash involving a minibus, lorry and a car. There are reports that several people have been injured in a collision on the M62 in West Yorkshire involving a minibus, a lorry and a car.
The collision happened on the westbound carriageway of the M62, between junctions 32A and 32 for the Xscape leisure complex, at about 11:30 BST. The crash happened on the westbound carriageway near junction 32 for the Xscape leisure complex near Castleford.
Police, fire and road ambulance crews are at the scene, along with two crews from the Great North Air Ambulance. Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it had put major incident procedures into place and sent out doctors and a hazardous area response team.
Motorists have been urged to use the M18 or M1 instead. There are no reports of injuries. A police spokesman said he was unable to give details of any injuries.
The carriageway is not expected to reopen until 18:00 BST. Hospital alert
One man who was stuck in traffic on the motorway tweeted: "Nine ambulances 4 fire engines and god knows how many police cars have gone past" Karl Milner, the executive director of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, tweeted: "[Leeds General Infirmary] major trauma centre put on alert following pile up on M62 near Castleford".
The Yorkshire and Great North air ambulances are among emergency crews at the scene.
A spokesman for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: "Ambulance clinicians are providing treatment at the scene and are working closely with their emergency service colleagues.
"At this time the number of patients is unknown."
