Customers of Natwest, the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Ulster Bank were left unable to pay for their purchases on Monday - one of the busiest shopping days of the year. The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) group has promised to compensate those left "out of pocket" after customers were unable to pay for purchases.
RBS said in a statement: "We are very sorry for the system issues that affected our customers this evening." RBS, Natwest and Ulster Bank customers making online and card payments were affected from 18:00 GMT on Monday, one of the busiest shopping days of 2013.
The banking group added that it would compensate those left "out of pocket as a result of these system problems". The group said it was "very sorry for the system issues" affecting customers.
