Valerie Brodie, head teacher of Letham Primary School where Kurt attended, paid tribute to the youngster.
She said: "He was a happy, lively, enthusiastic, hard-working, bright, honest, polite and confident wee boy who just loved coming to school.
"He always had a smile on his face and he was popular with all who knew him.
"Kurt will be sadly missed but very fondly remembered. Our thoughts remain with his family at this time."
Arrangements are being made to hold a school assembly on Tuesday where class teachers will tell the pupils about Kurt's tragic death.
