Two men, who were both in the Astra, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and have been taken to Gablecross police station.
The Nissan passenger, a local man in his 30s, who may have been thrown from the vehicle, was treated by ambulance crews on a nearby verge.
