A reminder that the BBC is hosting two televised debates around lunchtime today. From shortly after midday on the News Channel, parliamentary candidates in Stirling will be answering questions from voters in a town hall discussion. Then, from a quarter past two in the afternoon, Home Secretary Alan Johnson debates issues running from immigration to crime figures with his Tory and Lib Dem shadows, Chris Grayling and Chris Huhne. SNP MP John Mason, who won the Glasgow East by-election in 2008, says cuts should be made to nuclear submarine budgets, rather than to housing and front-line services.
