William Hague, with his singular intonation, kicks off the Tories' launch before handing over to shadow chancellor George Osborne, complete with blue tie. He begins on familiar ground with the National Insurance policy - aka "Labour's jobs tax" - but then says "Britain needs a whole new economic vision" where "we save, we invest and we export". Next to issue his invitation is shadow schools secretary Michael Gove. He wants you to "join our army" and run your own schools, police forces and community groups. He says the Tories will remove the "entrenched inequality" in the existing school system.
